The village of Manorbier is charmingly placed at the head of a valley reaching down to the shore of a beautiful bay, approximately five miles from Tenby and five from Pembroke. The valley is dominated on the west side by a fine old Castle founded around the middle of the 12th century by "Ode de Barri" and is the birthplace of Geraldus Cambrensis ( Gerald of Wales ). On the other side of the valley stands the lovely 11th century Parish Church of St. James. The locality abounds in pleasant walks, and Manorbier is the perfect holiday centre from which to explore historic and beautiful Pembrokeshire The surrounding countryside forms part of the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and there are bird sanctuaries and nature reserves within easy reach of the hotel. The whole coastline is dotted with beautiful beaches, and Manorbier is one of the most delightful in South Pembrokeshire. It is perfectly safe for bathing and surfing. Golf, Tennis, Bowls, Sailing, Fishing and Riding are all available within easy reach and there is a first class fresh water swimming pool and leisure centre at Tenby, and a sports complex with swimming pool at Pembroke.
